The Battle of Flowers Association is:
  • the organization which started what is known today as Fiesta® San  Antonio by staging the first Battle of Flowers Parade in 1891 as a patriotic celebration to honor the fallen heroes of the Alamo and to commemorate the victory at the Battle of San Jacinto.
  • a civic, non-profit, tax-exempt organization of women in San Antonio, Texas, whose purpose is to teach the history of our state and to keep alive the patriotic traditions of Texas and San Antonio.
We sponsor and produce these events annually:
  • the Oratorical and Essay Contests held in February.
  • the Battle of Flowers Band Festival held on Thursday during
    Fiesta week in April.
  • the Battle of Flowers Parade held on Friday during Fiesta week in April.
We produce a commemorative pin annually:
The 2008 selection from the "Wildflowers of Texas" Pin Series is available for sale.  Go to online store for more information about purchasing this year's pin and/or medal, as well as a select few available from prior years.
